FISHING TRIP DETAILS
Be Prepared for Your Trip
Safety
SAFETY is just as important, as having fun. Children must be supervised. If you plan to drink alcohol - please drink responsibly. The Captain has the right to return to the dock if he feels SAFETY is an issue and full payment of the trip will be collected.
Fishing Etiquette
The First Mate works for tips based on 15% to 20% of the minimum trip fee or more, if the First Mate cleans the fish. The fish cleaner charges a fee per fish, depending on the size of the fish. The fish cleaners are paid separately when you return to the docks.
Breakfast and/or Lunch
Breakfast and/or lunch - you must discuss this option with the Captain with whom you have booked a trip.
What to Bring
Bring food and beverage for the trip or place an order with your Captain. There is a 24-hr advanced notice for your breakfast or lunch order and it will be delivered to your boat. Bring a cooler, ice and gallon size ZipLock bags for your fish - but leave these in your vehicle until trip is completed. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a good camera to catch all the action!
What to Wear
Dress in layers for the season and the forecast. Think of the morning and evening temperatures which can be quite different from mid-day. Wear comfortable, non-slip shoes.

Fishing Methods
Trolling
In this type of fishing, one or more lines are baited with lures or bait fish and drawn through the water. Methods: from behind a moving boat or by slowly winding the line in while fishing from a static position.
Types of fish caught: rockfish, bluefish, and Spanish mackerel.
Bottom Fishing
A weight is tied to the end of the line and a hook is positioned about an inch above the weight. You can also use the weight to cast or throw the line a set distance.
Fish targeted: ground fish such as spot, white perch, croaker and rockfish.
Chumming
Ground-up fish (chum) is thrown into the water to lure a variety of fish by their sense of smell.
Species lured by this type of fishing: rockfish and bluefish.
